Professionally Refurbished Boosey and Hawkes Grenadilla
Imperial Clarinet in Bb (1971)
# 3557XX - 1971
This clarinet has just been extensively refurbished, with new pads and corks throughout. The pads are Pisoni tan leather of premium leather for extra durability.
The Imperial 926 (together with the Imperial 1010) were the flagships of the Boosey and Hawkes clarinet range. Instruments of this quality nowadays command a price of some £2,000. This instrument plays extremely well: the wood is good, and both keys and wood have all been thoroughly cleaned and oiled.
With the clarinet is an almost new Vandoren B45 mouthpiece, together with a 'Rovner' style cap and ligature. It also comes in a brand new lightweight case, which has a shoulder strap. Also provided is a pull through and a cleaning cloth to wipe the clarinet down after playing. This would be an ideal clarinet for an advanced player or professional wishing to upgrade or to play a good example of a top of the range Boosey & Hawkes clarinet in almost mint condition; it plays very smoothly, lively, and clearly top to bottom.
As with all my instruments, this example is designed to play; the refurbishment avoids any further expense in getting the clarinet to such a condition. The instrument displays the usual characteristics of this model, with a round sound, even from top to bottom. Prospective buyers are welcome to test blow this stunning instrument at my house.
