About Us
The aim of TAF Music is to help musicians (and parents of younger musicians) with their musical needs as well as providing a website to give second hand musical instruments and used printed music a new lease of life!
The TAF Music website was developed by Malcolm Allaway, a web programmer with a long involvement in music. His background in live concert audio and radio production has, through the years, brought him into contact with a range of musicians. As his own children have progressed along their individual musical journeys, he has entered into many discussion with parents trying to resource musical instruments for their children. To put all of this together, he has developed this website where you may find answers to these questions:
- Where can I find a music teacher?
- What music shops are around?
- Where can I buy a second-hand instrument?
- Where can I get my instrument repaired?
As this site progresses, and people add their instruments and printed music for sale, teachers and musical-related business add their details, we will have a resource that will meet all of these needs.
Our aim is to make this a useful place for musicians, their parents, buyers, sellers, teachers and others who work together to ensure the performance of live music continues.
Technical Details about this Website
- This site is developed using Object-Oriented PHP5 code with a mySQL 5 database running on an Apache server.
- The site is 100% CSS structured, with no tables and totally validated mark-up code and CSS.
- The site uses Ajax and JavaScript components to enhance the user's experience.
- To reach the widest possible audience, this site does not use non-standard plugins (Flash etc.) and has been checked to work on an number of web browsers including Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. If you encounter any difficulties viewing this site on your web browser, please do not hesitate to contact TAF Music
- The site is uses original code throughout with the exception of two small plug-ins used in the "Place and Ad" pages as outlined below
