Wooden clarinets – Bb and A. These intermediate level instruments were manufactured in the late 70s according to a very useful guide to dating Boosey and Hawkes in instruments by serial number [1]. Both are in good condition and have been professionally serviced. The Bb has been regularly played. The wooden bodies are sound, as are the corks. The mechanism is sound in both and the pads in good condition. They come in the original double case which is sound but rather old-fashioned.

The original Boosey and Hawkes range was Regent (student), Emperor (intermediate) and Imperial 926 and 1010 (professional).

The serial numbers are Bb 471936 and A448375.

The serial numbers are Bb 471936 and A448375 My local shop (Ealing Chimes, ex Michael White) tell me old me that they play well, and are in good condition, needing some minor repairs. In their current condition, they valued them at £750 for the pair. They are good instruments, but have fallen out of fashion, but being wooden rather than plastic, will sound better, but will need more care.   They originally belonged to my cousin - my Aunt bought them for her new in about 1973, and when she stopped playing in the early 80s, they have been stored in the case. My son uses them (he's at Grade 7) but he has been advised by his teacher to invest in a new professional instrument for grade 8 and beyond. Having bought one for him, I now need to sell this pair.
