A lovely English full sized violin made by Lawrence Ashford in 1989. He later started making under the name Lorenzo Guado.I am selling the violin with a full sized bow made by Hermann E Prell - but can take offers seperately on the violin and bow as well. Both violin and bow are labeled with the makers names.
The violin and bow are both in excellent condition and were set up about a year ago - but they will need playing in as I have not played for many years due to circumstance. The violin has been valued by Cremona at between £3000 and £3500 - the bow at £600-£800. I am willing to sell them together for just £3000. I am very sad to see them go and had many years of pleasure out of them as a music student at Trinity College.
The violin has a lovely full, sweet sound - very typically English- and is a real pleasure to play. I always preferred its tone to the heavier sound of the older German models. The colouring is quite light - which I personally like - but would mellow on hanging the instrument. Its a very pretty instrument with lovely little details which make it stylish and a bit unusual.
The violin and bow come in a decent case, together with a Kun shoulder rest. This would be the perfect full sized instrument for a serious student or player, and its a very reasonable price with everything in the package a violin player needs. I am happy to arrange viewings for serious buyers and can take enquiries about delivering the instrument.
