Glenda Allaway is a young musician living in North Herefordshire. She achieved a high merit for Grade 8 piano at the age of 13 and, at 14, passed her Grade 8 violin exam with a solid distinction. The instrument that Glenda enjoys playing most is the harp and all of her harp exams taken so far have been awarded well placed distinctions. She is currently a harpist with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) Youth Orchestra, CBSO Youth Academy, and a member of the Herefordshire Youth Orchestra as first violinist and harpist. She has, on a number of occasions, played harp solos at the Courtyard Theatre in Hereford, and has twice been selected to perform solo pieces in final concerts for harp workshops at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. In March 2009, Glenda was presented the "Hereford Young Musician of the Year" award by the committee of the Herefordshire Performing Arts Festival. She was awarded the same status for a second year in March 2010. Glenda has also won prizes in a number of music festivals and eisteddfodau throughout the Midlands and the mid / South Wales area.
